SLO assessment is a continuous and ongoing process. Many faculty members will be assessing their course(s) for the first time. The anticipated result of assessment is to find inefficiencies and weaknesses in pedagogy and delivery. As a result of these findings, you will most likely try a “new strategy” or expand/improve on an existing strategy.
These items would be included in the “plan of action.”
When you go to assess the course again, the ideal strategy would be to:
(1) re-visit the plan of action that was detailed in the previous assessment, and
(2) determine what, if any, of those new strategies were actually employed.
Over time, developmental gains in student success as a result of these efforts should be shown and supported by the data. This is the “ultimate reward” for initiating the process.
